Christmas Magic - our Christmas Concert 2009

This was a truly magical occasion. The choir sang a selection of Christmas carols and songs, and  our guest soloists delighted everyone with their wonderful playing. Pianist Rosie Breckon gave us Mozart, Scarlatti, Liszt and Chopin, and electrified and enchanted choir and audience alike. So, too, did violinists Gerry and Gill Hopkin, who played the Pastorelle from Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and also accompanied the choir in several of their songs, including ‘Mary’s Boy Child’ and Elgar’s ‘The Snow’. Another highlight was the lovely singing of our conductor’s five grandchildren, who sang the first verse of ‘Away in a Manger’ so beautifully. The audience enjoyed singing several carols, and also joined the choir at the end of the evening for ‘I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas’.
