Gotherington Singers Christmas Concert 2019

Fantastic Christmas concert at St. Nicolas' church

14 Dec 2019

What a wonderful evening of music and song at our Christmas concert in the lovely St. Nicolas' church! We had a full house for our programme - a Winter and Christmas journey around the world, with songs and carols from The Dominican Republic, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Botswana and Hawaii to name but a few. We were delighted to welcome two young soloists, percussionist Darcy Beck and soprano Hannah Wilson-Autzen. Hannah added to our "round the world" theme with songs from France and Africa, and with Darcy we visited the USA. Darcy also thrilled the audience with her performance of Battercada by English born composer Rachel Gledhill, with LED light up drumsticks and the church in total darkness!

This year we are supporting Headway Gloucestershire, and Service Manager Ali Hendley gave an interesting and moving talk about the work of the charity.

The concert ended with the choir accompanying soloist Hannah in the lovely "O Holy Night", after which choir and audience enjoyed wine and mince pies!

Thanks as always go to Sandra Burne our Musical Director, and Rachel Hobby our accompanist.
