Gotherington Singers Spring Concert, April 2014

Saturday, 5 April 2014
St Peter's Church, Leckhampton

Our Spring concert was in St Peter's Church, Leckhampton. The audience enjoyed a varied programme of songs and instrumental items, and our compere, John Qualtrough, gave us a very funny version of "There's a hole in my bucket" together with his wife Una. As it is 100 years since the start of WW1 the concert included "Everyone Suddenly Burst out Singing", a poem by Siegfried Sassoon set to music by Peter Willsher, and "Roses of Picardy"by John Qualtrough and Vivien Nicholson. We also enjoyed a flute and clarinet duet from Sarah Gray and Lesley Crompton, and the first performance of the song "Candlelight", sung by Mel Pinckham and John Qualtrough.

Many people feel that it is the varied nature of our programmes that give the Gotherington Singers concerts such audience appeal.

Proceeds from this concert go to support the Kampala Music School in Uganda, a wonderful venture started and supported by the family of our accompanist, Sara Harris.
