Joint Concert Supporting The Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choir

Friday, 24 June 2011

Despite a rainy evening the Bingham Hall at Cirencester was full for our concert with the Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choir. We were very pleased to have been invited to share the evening with them as their guests. The Bingham Hall was a great venue, and both choirs thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. So, too, did the audience, who were very appreciative.  Particularly enjoyable was the finale, when both choirs came together for a rousing rendition of 'The Rhythm of Life', conducted by George Taylor and accompanied by both accompanists!

Choir double success at Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts

Saturday, 14 May 2011

Saturday 14th May 2011 was Choral Day of the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts. The choir had a very successful day, winning two classes. In the beautiful setting of Cheltenham Town Hall we won both the Sacred Songs and the Ladies' Choirs Classes. The whole day was a wonderful celebration of choral music, and the standard of singing from all the participating choirs was incredibly high. Win or lose, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Choral music has such a wonderful way of bringing people together.

April Concert Delights Audience

Monday, 11 April 2011

The warm sunny evening on Saturday was perfect for the choir's "Songs for an April Evening" at St Andrew's Church. We were pleased to be able to support their Development Appeal - the church is a lovely venue for concerts, and visitors are always made to feel very welcome. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the varied programme of songs old and new, with vocal solos from various choir members, and two beautiful flute solos from choir member Sarah Malcolm. The concert raised £700 for the Appeal. The choir are pictured here wearing their new summer uniform.

Cheque Presentation to Midlands Air Ambulance

Midlands Air Ambulance Presentation

Wednesday, 16 February 2011

On Wednesday 16th February a few choir members visited Strensham, one of the bases of the Midlands Air Ambulance, and presented them with a cheque for just under £1,000. This money had been raised at our Christmas concert, and we were pleased to meet some of the staff and have a look at the helicopter itself. The helicopter had just flown in from an emergency as we arrived, so we were lucky to be able to see it before it had to take off again.

Afternoon Concert

Sunday, 19 December 2010 - 2:30pm

We performed a programme of lighter songs and carols which was much enjoyed by the diners, and were made to feel very welcome.
